The third edition of the Barcelona Generative Art Exhibition (MagBa) was born with a look back in order to find new paths forward. Under the title Origins, the exhibition proposed a dialogue between pioneering works from the 1970s and contemporary practices of generative art.
Featured among these modern explorations was Flowr, an infinite generative series that explores the way nature creates forms. Each piece serves as a variation of the same underlying system: just as in nature, everything looks alike, but nothing is ever identical. Stripped down to its core elements, the series poses a compelling question to the viewer: Can flowers be beautiful if they’re strictly geometric? And if they have no color?
In this talk with heeey, we've explored the intersection between generative art and blockchain, focusing on how these technologies enable new forms of artistic creation and distribution. Through practical examples and our experience in long-form generative art, we've analyzed the possibilities this medium offers for artists' digital sovereignty, showcasing notable works and tools that are transforming the landscape of digital art.
